Affordable Broadband Access
In addition to the broad acceptance of CopperGate HomePNA technology for IPTV and related Triple Play Services, this technology is also useful solely as a broadband Internet access technology.
VIDEO: Both RF broadcast signal and HomePNA IP Traffic Can be delivered on the same Coax
Mileend Gadkari, Director of Business Development explains how HomePNA is an excellent broadband solution in emerging markets.
Many MSOs have existing infrastructure of coax or phone lines and they want a less expensive way to deliver IP-based solutions over that existing wiring. For example, MSOs that deliver Radio Frequency-based TV over coax want a way to deliver broadband access over these coax wires at the same time they deliver their basic TV services.
In addition, many MSOs want to deliver advanced services such as Video on Demand, Over the Top MDU Applications, VoIP and other IP-based services. This is easy to accomplish with HomePNA from CopperGate.
CopperGate Delivers Affordability and Control
CopperGate chipsets seamlessly use a frequency spectrum that doesn't interfere with the RF channels running the cable TV signals. This allows for IP traffic to run over the same cables as the RF TV signal. The CopperGate MDU solution provides a way for service providers to provision each end point with a programmable bandwidth - allowing for customizable service plans and pricing models. For example, an MSO can charge one price for 100 Mbit/s of bandwidth and still can have another 50 customers getting 2Mbit/s of bandwidth - all over the same wiring and all with a single master controller.
Save Time and Money
CopperGate technology is an excellent way to deliver the Internet to large groups of users in apartment buildings. CopperGate saves service providers money by running over existing wires, can reliably deliver traffic further than CAT-5, and can reach many end-points from a single master.
Offering a way of piggybacking broadband access over their RF coax distribution allows MSOs to deliver broadband Internet access using the same wires as they use for RF TV. The beauty of HomePNA is it uses the existing coax wiring in the MSO infrastructure and it prevents them from having to install Ethernet cabling or secondary wiring in the home for broadband connectivity.
Installing HomePNA is easy compared to installing a second wire in the home and CopperGate's diagnostic tools allow installers to quickly diagnose trouble spots to keep installation times short. CopperGate also provides the means to allow MSOs visibility into the coax infrastructure by providing diagnostic tools that can be accessed remotely.
Once this IP-based network is installed in the home, MSOs can now deliver all the latest IPTV, YouTube streaming, triple play, VOD, VoIP and other exciting services customers crave - all with easy and affordability.
