3010 Chipset
CopperGate Communication's solutions are the first to enable the development of low-cost, highly integrated whole-home networking products allowing "triple play" service providers to offer voice, high-speed data, and video over existing phonelines and coax cables. Based on the HomePNA 3.1 specification, CopperGate's solutions for the digital home provide data rates of up to 128 Mbits per second with guaranteed QoS enabling equipment vendors to develop products capable of guaranteeing the user experience for new whole-home broadband services such as the distribution of multiple, simultaneous streams of real-time video for standard and high-definition TV over existing home wiring while still providing high-speed Internet access.
The CG3010 chipset offers a variety of interface options which, combined with a protocol convergence layer, make this chipset ideal for the home backbone and for bridging between WAN (ADSL, VDSL, DOCSIS, 802.16, EFM) and wired or wireless home networks, as well as to IEEE1394 Firewire or local connectivity technologies such as UWB. It is an optimal choice for home network adapters, network cards, entertainment products, residential gateways and set-top boxes.

CG3010 Chipset
The CopperGate CG3010 Chipset includes two of the three hardware blocks which, together with a hybrid and filter, comprise the major components required to implement a HomePNA 3.1 modem. The chipset consists of a digital CG3011 device which provides the MAC and PHY functions and a CG3012 Analog Front-End (AFE) device.
CG3011 Digital Chip
The CG3011 provides the interface to an external host for data transfers. The Host Interface is used to send and receive data, configure the chipset, and retrieve status and diagnostic information. The following interfaces are integrated:
- MII/RMII, IEEE802.3u, PHY side
The internal, high-performance Packet Processor executes the protocol stack and management layers. The protocol stack handles the MAC, Data Link, Convergence and Management Layers. The Bit Pump implements the HomePNA 3.0 PHY with a high-performance hardware DSP which handles all modem functionality for the transmit and receive paths.
CG3012 AFE Chip
The CG3012 is the analog front-end for the chipset. It's features include:
- Integrated crystal oscillator and PLL which provide the system clock
- ADC and DAC
- Variable gain transmit and receive amplifiers
- Line driver
- Filters
- Optional power boost amplifer for extended-reach applications
