Low Cost Coax Bridge for MDU
CG3210MLEC - HomePNA Evaluation Boards for MDU Applications
CopperGate's HomePNA-based Ethernet-over-Coax (EoC) MDU access solutions serve as an extension of the MDU access network from the WAN termination to each of the apartments in the building. It enables cable television and other service providers to deliver advanced services such as VOD, IPTV, Broadband Access and VoIP to residents in a speedy and cost-effective way over the building's existing coax infrastructure. The CopperGate MDU access solution coexists with standard cable TV broadcast services already delivered over those same wires. In order to signicantly shorten time-to-market for its customers and to demonstrate the capabilities of its MDU product, CopperGate offers an evaluation platform.
CopperGate's third-generation CG3210M Chipset solution enables the development of high-capacity, low-cost, easy-to-install equipment for providing Triple Play Services (video, voice, data) to individual apartments in Multi-Dwelling Units (MDUs) over existing in-building coax wiring. The 3210M Chipset can easily be integrated into Optical Network Terminal (ONT) and DSL gateway equipment and can enable the design of low-cost Ethernet bridge endpoint client devices for installation in individual apartments. This allows the WAN access network's bandwidth to be shared among the building's apartment units.
CopperGate's MDU access solution is based on the widely-deployed HomePNA 3.1 (ITU G.9954) industry standard and delivers enhanced physical layer transmission for robust operation over the challenging noisy infrastructure typically found in older apartment buildings. It brings the benefits of CopperGate's proven Home Networking IPTV solution to the MDU Access application including high data rates, multi-band operation, advanced synchronous MAC and best of breed QoS. The solution contains many advanced MDU-specific features, such as advanced point-to-multipoint MAC operation, support for large numbers of endpoints per Master device, privacy between clients, remote configuration of clients according to their Service Level Agreement, user admission control, remote management and diagnostics, IGMP snooping and filtering, and more, making it very attractive to service providers worldwide.
