Low Cost Coax Bridge for MDU

CG3310MLEC - HomePNA Evaluation Boards for MDU Applications

CopperGate's HomePNA-based Ethernet-over-Coax (EoC) MDU access solutions serve as an extension of the MDU access network from the WAN termination to each of the apartments in the building. They enable cable television and other service providers to deliver advanced services such as VoD, IPTV, Broadband Access and VoIP to residents in a speedy and cost-effective way over the building's existing coax infrastructure. The CopperGate 3310M Integrated Chip access solution coexists with standard cable TV broadcast services already delivered over those same wires. In order to signicantly shorten time-to-market for its customers and to demonstrate the capabilities of its MDU product, CopperGate offers an evaluation platform.

The CG3310M Single-Chip Solution

CopperGate's CG3310M single chip solution enables the development of high-capacity, low-cost, easy-to-install endpoints for receiving Triple Play Services (video, voice, data) at individual apartments in Multi-Dwelling Units (MDUs) over existing in-building coax wiring.

The CG3310M uses a new flexible band selection process for improved performance, increased robustness and better coexistence with legacy services such as CATV and DOCSIS. Based on Sigma's Fast EoC™ technology, the new chip can be part of a very high performance solution that delivers solid 160 Mbit/s of total system throughput to 126 simultaneous users. The new chip is also very energy efficient, requiring only 1.25 watts of power.

CopperGate's MDU access solution is based on the widely-deployed HomePNA 3.1 (ITU G.9954) industry standard and delivers enhanced physical layer transmission for robust operation over the challenging noisy infrastructure typically found in older apartment buildings.
